You can use the Gen-A-Rider in any room by plugging in the 3-prong extension cord to any wall outlet. Utility savings come when the Gen-A-Rider is plugged in and in use. Do not plug the Gen-A-Rider into overdrawn extension cords or into overused outlets. The Gen-A-Rider only produces grid-tied energy when the extension cord is plugged in, otherwise it will not read an AC grid and not energize the extension cord.
